Vegetarianism

Flowers in Orlando, Florida

So far I have been vegetarian for over two years, much to the dismay of my Jewish family. Everyone asks me why, and the best answer I have is that I am unable to eat meat and recognize that it is an animal at the same time. If I were to eat meat, I would be ignoring where it came from. I am not out to make everyone become vegetarian, I just feel that it is right for me. In fact, before I became one, I used to tease vegetarians asking, "If God wanted us to be vegetarian, why did

he make animals out of meat?" I have gotten my own share of teasing, however, from my brother who somehow still has not given up and tries to get me to eat meat at every single dinner. It is incredible how determined he is, but the fact is that after a while, I stopped considering meat food. I do not find meat gross, I just think of it as something inedible like a

stone or a chair. However, if you are considering becoming a vegetarian, make sure to get the right vitamins, and check with your doctor. It's very important to go about it the right way.
