Art
Art is one of my greatest passions, and I love incorporating it in everything I do. To see some of my creations, please visit my art gallery,
my ceramics gallery, or my poetry
collection. I pursue my artistic passion in many ways, including crocheting, ceramics,
calligraphy, poetry, pop-up making, origami, drawing, painting, and music.
Crocheting
-- I learned to crochet at Camp Galil and after several miserable looking scarves, I made two huge blankets
- the first for me, and the second for my two year old little sister Rachel with whom I am obsessed.

Ceramics
-- I fell in love with ceramics during my Sophomore year at Lower Merion High School, with my ceramic teacher Mrs. Moon. I looked forward to working on my projects every day, often coming during free periods to be able to accomplish the high goals I
always set for myself.. I learned and used many different techniques for both building and glazing ceramics, including throwing, slabs, coils, pressmolds, dipping, and
more. My favorite thing to make is functional ceramics - I love making usable pieces of art such as
my volcano tissue box, Rubic's cube puzzle box, igloo ice container and flower appetizer tray (as shown in the picture on the right). To see my ceramic creations, please visit my ceramics gallery.
Calligraphy
-- I love experimenting with different fonts, and incorporating calligraphy into other projects, whether for school of for pleasure. My calligraphy allowed me to
win a drawing contest with the theme of sleep in psychology.

Poetry
-- Ever since first grade I have adored poetry. I think of poetry as art in written form in that there are no rules (unless you choose a meter or rhyming pattern) and in that you can express any ideas or pictures you like. In first grade, I wrote some poems about talking to different animals and made a website compilation called “If I Could Chat with a Cat.”
I didn't learn poetic meter until tenth grade, when my incredible English teacher Mrs. Mastriano at Lower Merion High School introduced us to it and I fell in love with Iambic tetrameter, writing some of the poems in my poetry
collection. I went on to write Iambic Pentameter poems for my brother Jonathan for his bar mitzvah, and for my sister Rachel for her first birthday. In addition, I made a first place prize winning,
mythological pop-up book which included Iambic Pentameter rhymes about each of the many gods and goddesses included. My poem "Life After Death" also won a competirion and was accepted to go on a
poetry website.
Pop-up making
-- In 2007, I made a prize-winning mythological pop-up book including all the major Greek gods and goddesses. After it won first place, I attempted
to get it published (although I have not yet succeeded). Since then I have also made a pop-up wedding card for my grandfather’s second wedding.
Origami
-- I have made countless origami animals, but my greatest origami pride is the mobile I made for my sister for her birthday (meaning the actual day of her birth in this
case), which hung over her crib until she grew old enough to wreak it. The mobile consists of 9 completely
different modular origami pieces, each one made of at least 12 seperate and identical
units. These 9 include a tetrahedra, a rhombicuboctahedron, a cuboctahedron from curler units, and more. These colorful modular origami pieces made the perfect mobile,
since they are as intricate from below as from the side.

Drawing
-- Ever since I was little, I adored "Arts & Crafts," and I did it whenever I could. My notes always have doodles in the margins, which somehow helps me concentrate on the subject instead of distracting me (I always feel the need to multitask). Although
I took art classes throughout elementary school and middle school, I took none in high school aside from my ceramics class. In the summer of 2006, I took an intensive drawing class for 3 hours a day where I learned to use charcoal, pastels, and acryllic paint; draw models, objects, and plants; and use techniques such as shade, outline, and texture. I loved taking the course, and I wish I had more time during the year to take more art courses. To see some of my drawings,

Music
-- Playing the piano is one of my favorite relaxing activities, and I have been playing and taking lessons since 1st grade. I used to do classical music, but now I am learning chord theory, improvisation skills, and modern music. I love to play songs from musicals, including Wicked, Rent, and especially Phantom of the Opera, even though my brother complains that he hates my music and would prefer his rap.
My two year old sister is my biggest fan though, and she often trys to play duets
with me.
